Swimwear Care: hot tips for hot weather
Once upon a time, there was a little swimsuit who just couldn’t wait to go swimming.
All the little swimsuit needed was a wearer – one who would take great care of them, and who loved playing in the sand, splashing in the waves, and lazing by the pool.
One day, the little swimsuit’s dreams came true as they were purchased, wrapped lovingly, and opened with surprise by a very excited little person. The little swimsuit was put on and a happy day was had in the sunshine.
But on the way home the little swimsuit started to worry – would the family know how to take care of them? Did they know they should read the label to make sure they were doing all the right things to make sure the little swimsuit would live a long time and keep their beautiful bright colours? Would they know to wash them gently or handwash in cold water? What about rinsing straight after being in the pool so the chlorine wouldn’t harm them? Were they sure to use mild detergent and definitely no bleach? Or no irons! No tumble dryers! NO DRY CLEANING?!! The little swimsuit became very anxious.
The little swimsuit knew that some of their brothers and sisters were made of chlorine-resistant material that didn’t fade and lasted 20 times longer than regular material, but without reading the label, how were families to know?
The little swimsuit hoped they wouldn’t be left in a wet ball somewhere, or rolled up while still all soaked. The little person hadn’t sat on anything sharp or scratchy which would cause the swimsuit to pill or pull, which was lucky, but the little swimsuit hoped it wouldn’t happen the next time they went swimming. Some pool edges and concrete can be very unforgiving to swimsuit material!
When everyone was home, the little swimsuit found they needn’t have worried – they were removed from chubby, wriggling legs, rinsed thoroughly in cold water, washed separately in the machine on a cool, gentle cycle, and drip dried in the shade. The little swimsuit couldn’t believe their luck!
